Natalie Root is an alumna of Loyola University New Orleans where she earned her B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Photojournalism. A lover of bologna, pepperoni pizza, and chicken strips, she has expanded her portfolio as well as her palate through work with several chefs, in Memphis, TN, Oxford, MS, and New Orleans, LA. Her work has been published in several regional magazines, including MIDSOUTH Magazine , Nashville Home & Garden, and Louisiana Cookin’. It has also been published in the Junior League of New Orleans’ children’s cookbook entitled Crescent City Moons, Dishes, and Spoons and Chef Jennifer Chandler's Simply Suppers set to be released in August 2010. In addition to her editorial and commercial projects, she created “New Orleans Fare,” a collection of photographs and notecards featuring “Coffee and Beignets,” “Crabs and Abita Beer,” “Shrimp Gumbo,” and “Pecan Pie,” to celebrate the city’s unique culinary culture. The series is currently being exhibited at the W Hotel in New Orleans at 333 Poydras.
Currently, she is working on a documentary project in conjunction with the Southern Food and Beverage Museum in New Orleans which will culminate in an exhibit August 28th-November 30th 2010.
